1. Goal Setting Asking yourself what you want to accomplish in your business is the first thing. The mind needs to have clear goals set in order to accomplish them. If you want to succeed you need to set SMART goals. Without goals you lack focus and directions. Goal setting is the art of trying to figure out what you will do, why you are doing it and how you can achieve it more effectively. You should have long tem and short term goals so you can stay motivated and you can celebrate along the way!

2. Visualization

Visualization can be extremely powerful and important! You should spend at least 10 minutes everyday visualizing your goals. Vision Boards or Dream Boards will help you in this process.  This simple device is one of the most valuable visualizations tools available to us. By taking your goals out of your mind and putting it on paper in the form of pictures and images-you will strengthen your mind to achieve your goals.

3. Affirmations

Affirmations are used to reprogram the subconscious mind. These are positive phrases or statements that you say to yourself each day. They are used to challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts.

4. Journaling

Using a tool such as journaling can help you strengthen your mind. I personally use, “The Five Minute Journal” in the morning and evening. It is a way to focus on gratitude and keep my mind focused on all the things that are going right in my life. The 5 prompts are: To be answered in the morning: I am grateful for… What would make today great? Daily Affirmations: I am_________   To be filled in at night:  3 amazing things that happened today… How could I have made today better?   I love the simplicity of this process.

5. Positive Associations

Jim Rohn says,  “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. Who are you associating with? Who is a part of your inner circle? Who are you sharing your dreams and goals with? Are you working with a coach to get you to where you need to be? You can also use motivational books or Podcasts to get you closer to your mentors. Read or listen to positive materials if you don’t have a group of people who can fill that role.

6. Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence or Emotional Quotient (EQ) has become even more important than IQ.  EQ is the ability to monitor your own emotions as well as the emotion of others. Emotional Intelligence is what we use when we emphasize with our partners, our children or teammates. We also have to be able to use emotional intelligence to sympathize with ourselves. To master your mind you have to master your emotions. You have to master the high and lows of business. Sometimes you get a Yes—but you have to get past at least nine NO’s to get there. Managing your emotions and your mind along the way is the most important business tool in your tool box.   Leave a comment. What is the most important tool in your tool box?]]>
